I know the guys and gals who love to fish have been out on Smith Mountain Lake a couple dozen times or more by now, even though it’s barely spring. Hey, what makes a hobby a great stress reducer is when you can’t wait to get time to get out there and do some more of it.

I am sure those same folks are pretty excited about the upcoming bass tournaments and contests. They sound like some interesting and cool events even to an amateur like me (now what is a lure again?). So here are some of the details I scraped up for those who haven’t heard them yet.

The BFL Wal-Mart Bass Fishing Tournament will be held on April 5th beginning at 7 am. at the Parkway Marina. Registration will be on April 4 between 4 and 7 pm at the Bedford Wal-Mart. As many as 200 boaters and 200 co-anglers are expected to compete in the tournament, which will award as much as $45,000 in cash, including a top award of $6,000 in the Boater Division. Entry fees: Boater Fee $200 - Co Angler $100

Anglers may register for the tournament online at FLWOutdoors.com or by calling (270) 252-1000. Parkway Marina in Huddleston, Va., will host the takeoff and weigh-in at 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.

Virginia Division: VA-1 Conrad Brothers Marine - Smith Mountain Lake

There will be a mandatory pre tournament meeting before the first event only.  The meeting will be held at Conrad Brothers Marine April 5 at 7 P.M.  One member of each team must be present. Every tournament after that will have to be paid in full atleast 1 day prior to tournament to be eligable to fish. 

There will be no money collected at ramp for any event. 

Payments should be made to Conrad Brothers Marine and can be mailed or brought by the store.  If paying by credit card you can call in 540-721-5017  Tue- Sat 9am to 5 PM. 

Parking will be available at Capps next to Conrad Brothers.
