Exciting news for all you amateur photo bugs out there. Smith Mountain Lake’s annual “Four Seasons of SML” photo contest will begin on August 1st.  The contest will be for local amateur photographers and will go through October of 2009.  

The judging of photos will occur during the week after the deadline for submissions and 16 cash prizes are awarded to the talented winners. The contest winners photos may be used in SML advertising/marketing in both local and national publications.  Photo credit is given where possible to the guy or gal who took the shot.

The contest runs from August 1st to October 16th with a deadline for photos on 10/16/09. Entry blanks and rules can be found by Clicking here for 2009 Photo Contest Entry Form

 Some of the Guidelines include:

• All photos must be of the Smith Mountain Lake area or of lake activities.
• Photographs can be color or black and white with no frames or matting.
• Prints must be at least 8”X10” and no larger than 11”X 14”.Unframed
• Digital photos are accepted (high resolution 2400 x 3600 pixel minimum)
• Entry fee of $3 for the first entry and $2 for each additional photo.
• Entrants are limited to two photos  per category

Entry forms with the complete set of rules and model release forms are available at the SML Visitor Center at Bridgewater Plaza just south of the Hales Ford Bridge in Moneta.  The center is on the street level of the facility.
