A couple of events of interest to residents of Smith Mountain Lake are coming up soon.
First, the Town Hall Meeting will be at 6:30pm. on March 13th at the Trinity Ecumenical Parish. (The Parish is about a mile south of Hales Ford Bridge on rt. 122.) Many people don’t seem to get involved in their community affairs, but it is our opportunity to have some say in what goes on in our community. These meetings cover significant details that often affect everyones lives. This particular meeting will cover topics such as the re-licensing of the Smith Mountain Lake Project, Boater Education legislation, SML vegetation, and more.
Also coming is a Hospitality Training Workshop.
This event will be held at the Vinton War Memorial (814 Washington Ave.) on Thursday, April 17th. Choices of workshop times will be 8:30am. until noon, or 1:00pm. until 4:30pm.
The Hospitality Workshop is being offered by the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau in order for our community to learn how to answer the majority of visitors questions/problems. There will be a great deal of practical input on dealing with difficult people, giving directions to area attractions, etc.
The Workshop will be given by a Virginia Tourism Corporation Representative and includes a very valuable resource handbook, interactive training, and a guest pass to 13 of our area attractions. Space is somewhat limited. Call 540.342.6025 for reservations and more information. (SMLCC members $15.00)
