To the Smith Mountain Lake Community:
For 5 years, I’ve been on the Board of Directors of Center at the Lake, previously known as the Moneta Arts, Education, and Community Center. We need Your support…
We have been trying to build a major facility for the Smith Mountain Lake region that also would provide space for cultural enhancement such as local and national Music/Concerts, the Arts, continuing college and graduate Education programs, leisure Learning opportunities, art and Photo shows, Community Events, Dinner Theater, Business expos & Conferences, workshops, seminars and so much more.
Finally, things are beginning to fall into place that just might make such a tremendous facility a reality!!! We’ve received some Federal funds, there are some new grant possibilities taking shape, and Franklin County is expressing some real interest. However, the Franklin County Supervisors need to know if the surrounding County Residents are going to be supportive of this project.
To get more info, Please attend an Information Meeting on May 5 or May 11, both at 7:00 PM, at the offices of the Smith Mountain Lake Association, SMLA, located underneath the Old Oak Cafe and the Discovery Shop on Scruggs Road in Moneta. You’ll hear and see all the wonderful possibilities for the Center and receive information on how to Contact your Supervisor.
If you are local and can, please attend the meeting on May 17th at 1:00 PM at the Franklin County Administration building in Rocky Mount on 40 West. EVEN If you can’t attend the meeting, we would greatly appreciate your contacting a Supervisor to express your support for the Center at the Lake and to encourage them to support this much-needed Community Center.
