On December 8-10th all of us in the Smith Mountain Lake area will have an opportunity to contribute to the needs of children who may not receive presents this Christmas. The 10th Annual Virginia Dare Flotilla for Toys Boat Parade will be a fun and beneficial event for all involved. There will be gorgeous boats decked out for the holiday season illuminating the lake for an evening of holiday cheer. The parade of boats is a toy drive event for Lake Christian Ministries to collect toys to be distributed at Christmas to underprivileged children.
The parade on the water will depart Virginia Dare Marina at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, turn at Hales Ford Bridge at about 8 p.m., arrive at Smith Mountain Lake State Park around 8:45 p.m., and then cruise back to port.
Drop-off points for new, unwrapped toys are Smith Mountain Lake Visitor’s Center, Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Moneta Farm Service, Mariners Landing, Westlake BB&T Bank, Capps Building Supply, Moosies Restaurant, Dollar General Store, Dr. Gary Garst, Chop Sticks Restaurant, Fallons Restaurant, Virginia Dare Marina, Good Looks Salon, Brenda’s Pack and Ship, Westlake CVS, Blackwater Cafe, Bedford Visitor’s Center, and The General Store.
