In searching for information about underwater cities recently, I found that you can rent scuba diving gear on Smith Mountain Lake and have your own underwater adventure.
Some of the local shops to check out if you have an interest in the depths of Smith Mountain Lake are Mariner’s Landing Golf and Pro Shop (540)297-7888, Brown Bear’s Den, and The Water’s Edge Country Club (540) 576-3343.
You need to get a good guide if you are not familiar with scuba gear and the dive, since there are dangers involved in being that deep under water. And who knows, maybe you will be the one to make Smith Mountain Lake famous for it’s very own Atlantis.

Wow can there be a better place to scuba dive looking at this sight the views are amazing, outside the lakes, I can only imagine what the world looks like beneath, I can not think of a more spiritual place to go, here in the auk, we have good views sadly not much sunshine, I’m booking my ticket now!!!!
