Music has been part of our culture since the world began. Many here at Smith Mountain Lake share a musical passion as well. Regardless of your favorite genre, it seems that the Creator instilled in mankind a love of harmony and melody as well as a joy in the performance of such. Those who play an instrument or sing will often tell you that it calms their soul and gives wings to the depths of expression in their hearts. In a culture which often turns to artificial stimulation of various sorts to ease the inner storm, music remains a healthy outlet for both young and old.

In the vicinity of Smith Mountain Lake, a popular bit of fun for those who love blue-grass and other old time styles of music, is to participate in a jam session, or an evening of sharing talents and song.
