Today the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Board of Directors announced that, after a good deal of careful deliberations, feedback from the community and much prayer, they would be offering Kindergarden through 6th grade in the new christian school scheduled to open this fall.

They are very hopeful in their plans to add another grade level in each subsequent year. Originially the plan was to start a middle school, however the Board found that parents are eager to get their children involved in private, Christian schooling as early in the education process as possible, thus a grade school became the priority.

The SMLCA asks for the prayers and continued involvement of the Smith Mountain Lake community as they work to meet their goal of accepting applications for various positions by the first part of March, as well as the decision regarding the choice of several good possibilities for Academy’s location.
