Whatever your business is at Smith Mountain Lake, it can almost always be improved by updating your skills and/or education. Our local Chamber of Commerce is involved in an ongoing effort to make that kind of education available to those of us at the Lake. Currently, they are planning several classes and need community feedback as to which of those classes would be of the most benefit. So if you or someone you know would be interested in the classes listed below, please give them a call.
The Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce believes in business leadership development opportunities for its members through continuing education offerings.
Courses are developed in conjunction with and delivered by Virginia Western Community College. Established in 1966, the school boasts a current enrollment of more than 9,000. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
For the convenience of our chamber members, classes are specially designed for and will be conducted at the SML Chamber/Visitor Center facility at Bridgewater Plaza, Suite 2 on Route 122 in Moneta or at the Smith Mountain Lake Association facility on Scruggs Road in the Lakewood Professional Center.
Tuition for each course is $90.00. Classes are held once each week for four or five weeks (depending on the course) and are four hours in length. Computers and class materials are provided by Virginia Western and are included in the cost of the class. A minimum of 12 students must be registered for a course to be offered. Attendees must be residents of Virginia for a minimum of one year to receive the discount price.
