Help For AddictionsIs there someone you know and care about in the Smith Mountain Lake area that has an addiction problem? Or perhaps you are a recovering alcoholic who would appreciate some local support?

It is all too easy to feel yourself getting pulled under by the pressures and hurts of life and before you know it you have developed an unhealthy dependence on some substance or other. Most of us have either been there or watched the struggle in someone we love. Don’t try to walk it alone. There is support and help. Check out one of these local groups.

AL-ANON – A support group and fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who think their lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. Thursdays at 8 p.m. Free. Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 13586 Moneta Road, Moneta.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS – A support group for people who think they have a problem with alcohol. Saturdays. 7 to 8 p.m. Free. Huddleston United Methodist Church, 4419 SML Parkway, Huddleston.
